Your Book Is a Gift

If you’ve been around my world for a while, you’ve probably heard me talk about writing a “Book of the Universe.” This is where you’re feeling called to write a book. When somebody comes to me with a Book of the Universe, they say something like:

“The book is calling to me and I have been chosen to be its author.”

That’s pretty powerful, isn’t it? Being chosen to write a book is a lot like being chosen to be a parent; it’s a huge gift and responsibility and joy, all at once.

It’s the feeling that you HAVE to do something and that it HAS to be done right now. Right now! In fact, the feeling of NOT taking action makes you feel uncomfortable, antsy, and emotional.

That’s one of the signs of a Book of the Universe.

Gotta tell you though, not everyone is lucky enough to be asked to write a Book of the Universe. It’s an unmistakable feeling. And there can be the worry that it’s wasted effort because, often, these books don’t feel like they’re tie directly into your existing business.

I get it! I’ll be the first to admit, I hate wasted effort. I hate wasted time and it drives me crazy when I can’t do one move and get multiple results. It drives me crazy! (And I think that’s why I dislike doing laundry or the dishes so much; no matter how well I do it, there’s always more to do!)

But when God has asked you to write such a book it means that not only will you the author have something huge to gain from the writing process, but it also means that there is someone who needs to receive your words.

And here’s the thing about when a book is calling out to be written:

It’s a gift from the Universe, from God, from our Creator. And writing these books needs to be done, no matter if it fits neatly into the box of our business or not.

So we’re clear: Being called to write the book doesn’t mean you know HOW to write the book. The inspiration will feel like a gift, the drive to write it will be overwhelming, AND you’ll still need mentorship to write a book that will move the hearts and minds of the readers. (And help for the “after” stuff like editing, publishing, and launching!)

When you have been called to write your Book of the Universe, it doesn’t matter if you don’t know how or if it will fit into your business. What matters is the call and willing having the faith to begin the writing process. Being guided by Source to create such a manuscript means that there’s no way the book can fail; unless you fail to take action.

Being called to bring forth a Book of the Universe still needs all the foundational book writing steps. The difference is that you can’t NOT write the book the same way you can’t suddenly decide to stop breathing. You HAVE to do it.

P.S. Interestingly enough, I’d never been gifted a Book of the Universe. The closest I came was a short story (and I don’t really do fiction!) so I do know the feelings.

Until about three weeks ago. Then my own Book of the Universe came calling. And while I’m joyously writing on it, I still followed the first three steps that come BEFORE writing. I do this to honor my message, honor the book, and honor my readers.
