Making the Best of Your Writing Situation

If you’ve been around me AT ALL, you know that I really want to be in my office – with my fancy desktop computer, dual monitors, comfy chair, and ergonomic keyboard.

I like it there. It’s the easiest place for me to write and work.

But that doesn’t mean that I can ONLY work from there!

Today, the local schools are on a two-hour snow delay. Which means that my sitter can’t come until 11:30 am – instead of her normal start time of 9:30 am. She’s got to get her kids to school too. Nothing I can do about the delay in my workday.

And while there are bunches of things I really can’t do from my kitchen table and laptop, with “Go Buster” playing in the background, writing this article isn’t among them. So here I am, making the most of it.

Even though, no, I don’t want to be writing from my laptop. Or listening to the endless songs from “Buster”. Or being interrupted by my adorable (and loud) two-year-old. But I’ve got to make the most of what I can do.

Just like you do.

So if you would rather have a weekend retreat to write, but you’ve got 10 minutes while waiting for the bus – then you need to use that time!

If you’d rather take a full afternoon to work through “The Writer’s Goal Setting Workbook” but you’re filling it out in five minutes at a time between appointments – then do it!

In a perfect world, we would be able to write from our perfect location for the perfect (extended) amounts of time. In the real world, we’re busy. We’re creating our dreams and goals in the “cracks of time” that we actually have.

Writing is so much more than just plunking words out of the keyboard. You need to know what you’re DOING during your writing time. You need a plan – one that you can execute in your 15-minute “cracks” and really see progress add up.

That’s where my Book Gameplan Membership comes in. It’s designed for BUSY. When you want to write your book and really don’t have time to keep staring at the blank screen, watching your precious writing time tick away, trying ot figure out WHAT to write, how to write it, and how to make the most of your ideas.
