Every January, I work my way through the Shining Year workbooks from Leonie Dawson. I love taking the time to dream up my year ahead. There’s one page in the Life workbook that asks me to create mottos for the year.
Gotta tell you, it’s always been a challenge for me to fill out that page. As message-focused as I am, and as message-focused as my clients are, this little motto usually has me beat.
This year, I found one – and I wanted to share it with you:
Eat. You’ll feel better.
(Hang with me, I’ve got a point!)
I’ve found that when I’m tired and the project Just.Isn’t.Working it’s usually because I’m hungry or thirsty – or both! (With a 4-month-old baby saying I’m tired is rather redundant and obvious!)
I set this motto yesterday and today I had three opportunities to put it into practice. And guess what, it worked! I was able to get back to my brain-sucking loving-every-minute book-layout should’ve-been-done-already project with new mojo. That and my big glass of water and I’ve REALLY been making progress. And no, didn’t even reach for an afternoon cuppa.
Today I invite to you to set a motto for yourself for 2018. It’s not a word of the year and it’s not a habit – it’s a go-to phrase that you can use to help yourself feel better, harness inspiration, and get back to writing.
And to make this REALLY easy for you, you can download this image ad a .pdf! Then you can fill it out, color it in, and put it where you can see it. (Oh, the download has TWO boxes so you can share it with a friend!)
Bonus points if you’ll upload it to Facebook and tag me!
So just a bit more around my motto, because I’ve got some articles that will dovetail in nicely:
So please, leave me a comment and tell me YOUR motto for 2018!
