Candles, Love, and Bear Hugs

Last August I wrote an article about feeling like a lone candle in the dark. Since then, I’ve carried that metaphor into a few different pieces – either articles or my weekly personal note to you in the newsletter.

Candles are a lot like love.

Lighting a candle from one already lit diminishes the first candle NOT AT ALL.

Love doesn’t divide, it multiplies. The more you give, the more you have.

Today, one candle to another, I want to send you my love. I want to reach through these words and wrap my arms around you in a hug (I give GREAT hugs) and be with you for a moment.

It’s not a quiet, sad kind of love with a gentle, gentle hug.

Nope, my fellow candle, it’s a big bear hug, I haven’t seen you in months and I’ve MISSED you, jump up and down and celebrate kind of hug. It’s the joyous way toddlers CRASH into legs with abandon, wrapping sticky arms around you in an unashamed burst of joy.

See, I’ve figured some stuff out since last August.

1. I’m not carrying your dream – you are!
Here’s the thing – you never actually ASKED me to carry it in the first place. So all that stress and worry and aching arms and heart over carrying your dream of being a published author – it was never mine in the first place. I stressed myself out (and maybe you too!) for something that wasn’t mine.


2. I have an audacious goal for you – but you don’t have to accept it!
My big audacious goal for 2018 is that EVERY person on my list, in my group, or anywhere near me, who wants to make this the year they write their book (and launch a best-seller) can and DOES. You’re not doing it alone – I’m with you – and we’re going to light an ARMY of candles with our messages.

3. I’ve fallen back in love with my business – and that’s good for you.
This is more than “re-committing” or overcoming a financial hard spot (2017 was one big, long financial hard spot!) or pulling up my big girl panties. I remembered WHY I wanted to do this in the first place: to bring your message, your light, to the world. I get to do that through books (writing, publishing, launching!) AND I get to do it through some super-fun, highly-exclusive copywriting services.

All of this has come together into the trifecta of just loving what I do, loving who I do it with, and loving WHY I’m doing it.

I’m EXCITED to connect with you – during these weekly missives and in other announcements for launches and programs and events. I know at a cellular level that the people who I get to work with this year are EXACTLY the right people and that we’ll have a marvelous time together.

BTW: I don’t have any formula, tips, or advice for your writing, your book, or your message today. I also don’t have a recipe to help you fall back in love with your life (business, partner, message, etc.)

What I can tell you is this:

Candles share light – one lighting the next – without diminishing themselves in any way.

Love multiplies.

Spread light. Share love. Be the candle for yourself and light the way for others.
